Story of the month: Jill |
On a day in late July of 2009, our family’s rather orderly life was turned upside when our son threw his phone into a pond thinking it was a bomb. Things went from bad to worse with his thoughts that his food was poisoned, there was a mind control chip in his brain, people could see him through the television, and on and on. We needed help, and we found it in NAMI’s Family to Family Education Course. I learned so much during those classes, and just being in a room full of people who really know what you are going through makes you aware that you are indeed not alone.
My son is now doing much better with the help of medication and support, but mental illness has many ups and downs. For me, the Family to Family course took us from existing to living again. I’m so grateful we found NAMI.
